Announcements 12-5-13

News from Team Triumph



Team Triumph's 4th graders recently visited the nursing home to play several songs on their recorders and guitars.  They did an amazing job and the senior citizens really enjoyed the concert!

Operation Happiness


Wow! City School collected a grand total of 3,312 items! We surpassed our goal by 312 items.  We collected even more than last year! We would like to thank all the students, and staff who participated, and a special thank you to the Voyagers, and Team Incredible for bringing in so many cans yesterday. The winners of this years Operation Happiness is............VOYAGERS. Great job! 

Engineering Day




NOW is your time to apply.
Applications are due by Dec. 13th

Engineering Day is a culminating day where students from schools around Vermont come together to display and test their various engineering design projects.  Students in 4-8th grade can apply to participate.  You will be expected to work on your project with a group and have it ready to display in February.

Band

Jr. Band and full Orchestra are rehearsing today.

7-8 Jazz Band will be rehearsing today, instead of full band, because of Friday being off for students.

Lessons today include 6th grade drums, trombone, saxes and viola.

Drama


Drama Information:

Anyone interested in auditioning for the show MUST attend one or both drama days, being held in Miss Gelfon’s room next Monday and Tuesday, 12/9 and 12/10  from 3:10-4:45.   Session A students participating should report to the cafeteria from2:45-3:10 and can get a snack.  Students that will be missing an Open Doors programs during these days need to let Mrs. Skaflestad know ASAP. Any students that require busing, whether in Open Doors or not, will need to sign up for busing by 1 pmon the day they need busing.  Come see Miss Gelfon for busing forms if you need them.  Anyone interested in auditioning for the show MUST attend one or both drama days, no exceptions.

Anyone participating in the drama days needs to come see Miss Gelfon for a permission slip to attend.

Auditions for Aladdin will be held next Thursday and Friday, 12/12 and 12/13.  They will also run from 3:15-4:45

The drama days and auditions for the play are open to students in grades 5-8.

An Evening with the Bruchacs

Please join us Thursday evening, December 5, 2013 at 6:30 PM in the Library/Learning Commons, as we welcome Joseph and Jesse Bruchac for an evening of Abenaki storytelling and music.
World known authors and storytellers, this father and son duo will share traditional stories. Admission is free and open to the public. Please come and bring your family and friends - suitable for all ages!
