Announcements 5-14-14

News from Dynamic Design





Dynamic Design students learned about the history of Cinco De Mayo last week and we incorporated pinata making and breaking, along with making and eating two types of salsa.  Students were very interested to learn about the true history of the holiday and why it is celebrated more in American than Mexico.

Band

Band lessons today include, 6th grade flutes, Mioka, Abbie, Chloe, Andrew, GG, and Margot.

The District String Festival is happening tomorrow in the Library. Students from City School should be in the Library at8:30.

Jr. Band will not be rehearsing tomorrow because of the string festival.

Words of the Week

The words of the week this week are:
Justify:  You explain why it is reasonable or appropriate
Teams must justify why they need money to complete their Stewardship projects in order to receive the funds.
Modify:  Change something a little usually to make it better.
Mrs. Lamb will have you modify the recipe to make the best souffle.

Tutoring

Today is the last day of After School Tutoring for the school year.

Open Doors

The following Open Doors classes are meeting today, Wednesday, May 14th:

Hip Hop Extreme (1st-3rd)
Wednesday Drumming-Lets Beat the Djembe Drum

Congratulations to students from the Wednesday and Thursday Drumming classes on their excellent performance to the St. Albans City School board last Thursday. Thank you to Paul Wideskog and Cathy Cameron-Muscente for helping the students share their talent with the Board.

Athletics

The 7/8 Girls Softball Team has an away game in Fairfield at 4:15pm.
