National Bike to School Day
We had 77 people bike to school today, 67 of them children. Our two biking route groups were only modestly well attended (17 for the Barlow Street Community Center Group and 12 for the Senior Center Group). Most kids biked to school on their own on this crisp and beautiful morning. The two officers (Joel and Holly) who led the way, with squad cars flashing their lights, did an excellent job of quickly blocking traffic at key intersections along the way. We all arrived safely thanks to them.
It is really nice to see the interest in biking and walking to City School picking up this year. Thanks to the parents for trusting their kids to our supervision. Staff members Dan Deslauriers, Matt Allen, Mitch Craib and Sue Wade orchestrated the morning event. Bus Drive 6, Dave Schofield, was the main promoter of the event for our school.
