Announcements 6-9-15

Stewardship Day

Due to the weather, SACS Stewardship day will now take place on Monday June 15th from 9:00-10:30AM.

An Explanation of RiseVT

For those of you who are wondering what RiseVT is and why we are partnering with them on our Stewardship Celebration day on the 15th, here are a few basic facts. RiseVT is a Franklin/Grand Isle health collaboration established by local health and educational institutions: the health department, North Western Medical Center, Schools, etc. Its’ purpose is to focus our counties on achieving improved health, good nutrition and plentiful exercise while striving to reduce obesity. RiseVT recently evaluated our school and wants to showcase it as a healthy role model for other schools around Vermont. Their members feel we are making great progress in offering healthy foods and beverages and in promoting exercise. In other words, RiseVT recognizes the fact that we are being good stewards of ourselves, as well as the community and the environment. RiseVT will work with Northwest Medical Center and the Messenger Newspaper to take pictures and videos of us so as to highlight our achievements.

Band
Jr. Band and Sr. Band are rehearsing today.
A big thank you to yesterdays 7th grade sr. band rehearsal for graduation next week. Mr. Mehaffey was proud of how well you played and put things together so quickly. Bravo.

We have a few openings for some classes for the July 13th week......so feel free to inquire if you are interested in that week.

Walking Contest Results

It has been an unbelievably tight race to win the "walking contest".  Individual students have covered as many as 35 laps in a week (17 miles).  Some teams completed over 300 miles (600 laps) in a given week.  Amazing!

In the final week of the contest, Bright Beginnings squeaked out their third golden shoe award for one week.  However, Team Triumph and Bright Beginnings tied for total laps completed over the whole contest.  They will share the pool party prize and time at the pool, and each team will contribute funds to make it possible for the greater number of kids to experience the pool.

Thank you everyone for participating in the contest, especially those kids in every community who completed a ton of laps.
