Announcements 9-18-2015

Daily Announcements  Friday September 18th, 2015

Band
Students in grade 5 and grade 6 are reminded to bring their band instrument and string instrument forms into Mr. Mehaffey or to their homeroom teacher.

Jazz band is today (Friday) at 2:00pm.

Blueberry Bushes
You may have noticed that the blueberry bushes are being dug up and removed from the islands between the parking lot and school.  They are being relocated to garden beds next to the walking path and community garden.  The reason the bushes are changing location is that we observed that splashed-up road salt in the winter, and soil compaction by foot traffic year round, were stunting the plants.  We hope that the new location will help the plants achieve their potential.

Yes CODESMYTHS is back and better than ever, and you are invited to join.

Make sure not to miss the kick-off event this Monday,September 21st at 8:15 in the Library!!

What is CODESMYTHS you ask?
It is an opportunity to apply your problem solving skills in a self-directed environment where you learn how to program and write apps for computers of all sizes.  You get to collaborate with fellow classmates and learn a skill that is applicable in school and out in the workforce.  It may even be  a bit of FUN, especially as you get to design what you want to create.

The kick-off event is for 4th - 8th grade students new to Codesmyths, so you can get a better idea of what you do in the course, why we teach it, and to sign up and join the class.
