Announcements 2-9-2016

TUESDAY

Parents

Starting today (Tuesday 2-9-2016) you will notice a change in our student drop off procedure.  Our staff will direct you to offload your children beyond the crosswalk in front of our school.  Why change this procedure?  We have noticed that parents dropping off children before the crosswalk are generally focused on their child's entrance into the school building. It is not uncommon to forget to look left for pedestrians entering the crosswalk. This change in procedure is to increase walking safety for everyone coming from the parking lots in front of school.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Outside Recess
It is a good day to get outside and burn off some energy.  Unfortunately, there is not enough snow to go snow tubing.  You will have to find something else to do.

Advanced Notice: 4-6th grade Dance on Friday
Team Triumph is hosting an 80's Disco dance  this Friday, February 12, 6:00-8:00 PM. The cost is $3.00. If you wear an 80's costume, you will get a raffle ticket entered into a drawing for prizes. A notice will be handed out to 4-6 teams today.

Recent visitors from the Community College of Vermont
On Friday, February 5th, Team USA students welcomed four guest speakers from the Community College of Vermont (CCV). They were separated into groups and learned interactively about financial aid, degree levels, and anything else they were interested in. After, they were put to the test with a crossword puzzle, with the information they learned during the presentations.

Raider's Roosts
Our group (Sunrise Club) will be putting up several roosts for the birds to live in during colder months along with bat houses to help with the bat population decline.  The kids have done research with bird books to learn what types of birds live in our region and what types of roosts are needed for them.  Our next step is putting up the actual full size roosts around school property and later on researching to see what types of birds are actually living in the roosts.

Students are seen here painting miniature birdhouses obtained for the project.
