Students (mostly 1st-3rd graders) Moved Playground Rubber Uphill

Since our playground rests on a slope, the cushioning rubber beneath equipment gradually shifts downhill, leaving bare ground.  On Tuesday 3-23-2016 many students enthusiastically moved carts of rubber chips to places on the playground where it is most needed. Thank you to all the wonderful workers who helped out!  We will be doing this project again soon.

Team Triumph Learns about Maple Sugaring Tubing

Mr. Branon brought his sugaring tools and some extra plastic tubing to school to show Triumph students the technology behind collecting sap the modern way. Students strung up wires between temporary "trees" and then added different diameters of tubing. Then, Mr. Branon used various drills and clamps to make air tight connections between the various tubing sections.  There were hands-on learning experiences for everyone mixed between respectful watching, listening and learning.

Team Imagination Special Food Item
Mark your calendar Team Imagination is hosting a taste test March 29th.  Here's another hint what the Abbey will be making: It's made with pasta.

Today's Snack is Pluots

The pluot is a fruit that combines the plum and the apricot. The pluot is 60 percent plum and includes more than 20 varieties, each with a unique color and flavor. Floyd Zaiger, a farmer-geneticist, introduced pluots in the 1980s after cross-breeding plums and apricots by hand pollination, not genetic modification. The pluot is a fruit in the prunus genus, which includes apricots, peaches, cherries and almonds.

Each pluot has 80 calories, and is a good source of potassium and vitamin C. Pluots have more sugar than plums, providing a sweet flavor.  They are a healthy fruit option because they have lots of fiber.
