Walking Contest Update

Team Triumph had the most laps for last week (527).  Consequently, they get to display the golden shoe award for the week.  Congratulations!

A bunch of other teams completed many laps too, especially Travelers, Discovery and Voyagers.  Don't get discouraged.  Just go out there and give Triumph some serious competition this week.

Triumph Transportation Assessment Group Fact

Did you know that most students at our school live within a mile of school (many within a half mile of school), and still come via vehicle or bus?  Walking a mile takes about 20 minutes and is good exercise.

Tomorrow is another Walking Wednesday for the month.  The team that has the most students walk or bike to school gets recognition in daily announcements and time making smoothies with RiseVT's smoothie bikes (June 3rd).  Maps of the walking school bus routes can be found in the school lobby.  Remember Ms. Hook's and Mr. Pac's south main street route starts at Taylor Park at 7:10 AM because of the sidewalk construction.

Tomorrow (5-11-2016) is also our once a year bike to school day.  It starts at the Messenger street Senior Center.  If you have a bike, please join in anywhere along the route.  You will not be marked late if you are a part of the biking group.  There will be a police escort.

Travelers Bees
The main reason for asking that you route your foot traffic away from the sidewalk outside of Travelers is to keep you from bothering the honey bees.  They will be busy working to pollinate our gardens and flowers and we don't want to disturb them.  Honey bees are not aggressive by nature and certainly not nearly as problematic as waspsHoney bees only sting people when disturbed.  You have little to worry about.

The Lion King Drama Production happens at the end of this week.
May 13th school dress rehearsal 9:30 AM
May 13th and 14th are the performances (7:00 PM).

The snack for today will be honeydew melon
A wedge of honeydew provides more than half the recommended daily allowance for vitamin C and has about 64 calories and 14 grams of natural fruit sugar.

Though typically the flesh of a honeydew melon is green, it can sometimes be orange. This specific type of honeydew is often referred to as the “temptation melon.”
