Tomorrow 5-4-2016 is a Walking Wednesday

Please get your walking shoes on (or use your bicycle) and come to school under your own power. Join one of our walking groups if you want company.

Walking Contest

The annual Walking Contest will be held over four (not six) weeks in May and will have three components to it:

  1. Determine which community has the largest turnout for Walking Wednesday events held once a week over May.
Incentives to participate - group photo in daily announcements and an hour and a half of time with Rise VT and their smoothie bikes (June 3rd).

  1. Determine which community completes the most walking path laps each week.
Incentive to participate - win the right to display the golden shoe award for the week.  A picture of the team with the award will be taken and posted on daily announcements.

  1. Determine which community completes the most laps over the four weeks.
Incentive to participate - $200 to spend on recess equipment (kickballs, basketballs, soccerballs, tennis balls etc.)

A few Rules
All laps must be completed on the ½ mile gravel walking path.  Laps indoors around the gyms or beyond the school campus on field trips will not count!

On Walk at lunch day (May 3rd) and SBAC testing days all laps around the walking path count double towards the contest.

Blue Cross Blue Shield Walk at Lunch is TODAY.
This marks the first day of our May walking contest. Please go out before, during or after lunch to walk. Collect a sticker to demonstrate that you participated.

Record double the number of walking laps you complete today. Recording sheets are located on a table in the covered alcove outside, and between, Renaissance & USA.

Team USA Raider Report Students Place 1st in VAN Video Challenge

Congratulations to the Raider Report crew consisting of Hailey, Sydney, Kayleigh, Hannah, Paige, and Forrest. They brought home the top prize in the Vermont Access Network Video Challenge (http://www.vermontcam.org/1st-van-video-challenge). It is a statewide contest for kids to adults. There will be an announcement at their meeting in May.

The challenge consisted of making a video that contained, a paper clip, a jar of olives, and the quote "We are not in Kansas anymore." The video needed to be five minutes or less and the kids, in a random drawing, selected the genre, romance/romantic comedy. The students came up with their production, Light of My Life.
