WEDNESDAY

Today is a Walking Wednesday
Important Message: The A-Session Walking School Bus group, lead by Ms. Hook and Mr. Pac, will start at Taylor Park/Main Street opposite of Twiggs (meeting time 7:10 AM), not the Community College of Vermont (CCV).  Construction is happening along their normal route on South Main Street.

Find your nearest route and join in.  Remember to sign in so that your community can get credit for your participation.

Walk at Lunch Day was a Success
Many hundreds of "I'm Walking" stickers were handed out to students and staff who walked at least one lap at lunch around the walking path.  Laps are being tallied (and doubled) and will be used towards the May walking contest competition between learning communities.  $200 dollars can be won to buy recess equipment for the community that walks the most laps total at the end of Friday, May 27th.

The Explorers were good citizens on Tuesday 5-3-2016 picking up trash as they walked along the path. Thanks for taking care of the Earth, Explorers!

The Daily Parent-Led Walking School Bus (Messenger St./Senior Center) Has Started
On Tuesday 5-3-2016 there were 25 participants.  If you are a B-Session student in that area, consider walking to school with the walking school bus rather than taking the regular bus.  This group will walk to school daily through most of May.

Team Triumph and Team USA Collaborate
In late winter, Triumph students planted seeds in pots for Spring and Summer gardens around school. After some time germinating under grow lights, the young plants were placed in the little greenhouse that was built and is managed by Team USA outside of their classroom space.

Embryology Project
Mrs. Lawyer examined the fertile eggs that had just arrived at school on Tuesday morning 5-3-2016. These eggs will be incubated and hatched in Kindergarten, Explorers and Bridges classrooms.

We have watermelon for snacks today
The watermelon can be classed as both a fruit and a vegetable.

  • It is a fruit because it grows from a seed and is considered a type of melon (although it is actually a type of berry called a pepo).
  • It is a vegetable because it is a member of the same family as the cucumber, pumpkin and squash.
