REPORTS AND PICTURES

Explorers Shoe Collection Report
So… many exciting things have happened since we last reported on our shoe collecting contest!!! We found out that we have to weigh the shoes for the Humane Society because the contest is comparing how many pounds of shoes we can donate. Since we had already starting counting the number of shoes in weeks 1 and 2 we continued doing this as well as weighing them. In week 3 we collected a HUGE amount of shoes, WAY TO GO RAIDERS!!!! Below are 3 different graphs with data about our shoe collecting competition to date. We have a challenge for all of you…. We want to collect a total of 1,000 shoes and hope that they will weigh at least 500 pounds! Can you help us meet this challenge???!!!!

Can you figure out our total weight of shoes after 4 weeks of collecting?

Can you figure out our total number of shoes collected so far?

From this graph can you estimate how many shoes we’ve collected after 4 weeks? What is your prediction/estimate for the total number of shoes collected by the end of week 5?

News from Travelers
Ms. Mailhotte’s third graders worked really hard listening to the word problem, writing down key information, and figuring out the solution! Then, they discussed with someone next to them and reported out to the small group!
