REPORTS AND PICTURES
Yesterday's presidential election was a big deal at St. Albans City School too. Students from Team USA organized a student vote and tallied the results. Every K-8 child had a chance to submit their vote for either Trump or Hillary. The overall result among students was 48.4% for Trump and 51.6% for Hillary. 519 students voted and each student was proud to submit their choice.
Selling Beets to the Cafeteria
Mrs. Smith, our farm to school coordinator, gathered four Imagination students to harvest and sell beets to the school the (Abbey) cafeteria. The beets had thrived over the summer and were huge. 25 pounds were harvested and washed prior to being turned over to the cafeteria. They will be further processed and added to a delicious chocolate cake recipe. Yum!
These beets are as local as our cafeteria can get. They grew just 270 steps away from the school kitchen. No fossil fuels were needed to get them to market. Super fresh, super healthy!
Two Renaissance students are shown having a music lesson with Mr. Mehaffey on Tuesday 11-8-2016. St. Albans City School has a strong music program and all students are encouraged to get involved in it once they are old enough to do so.
