An ideal would be garden beds cleared of weeds and dead vegetables

A goal is for stems, stalks, rotting vegetables and lots of weeds to be carted off to the compost pile before winter arrives and the ground freezes.

Selling Beets to the Cafeteria
Mrs. Smith, our farm to school coordinator, gathered four Imagination students to harvest and sell beets to the school the (Abbey) cafeteria.  The beets had thrived over the summer and were huge.  25 pounds were harvested and washed prior to being turned over to the cafeteria.  They will be further processed and added to a delicious chocolate cake recipe. Yum!

These beets are as local as our cafeteria can get.  They grew just 270 steps away from the school kitchen.  No fossil fuels were needed to get them to market.  Super fresh, super healthy!
