PICTURES AND REPORTS
Discovery and Incredibles Skied at Jay Peak 1-9-2017
Sixth graders from these two communities spent a portion of Monday at the Jay Peak ski slopes. For most of the students, this was their first experience skiing ever. They started by practicing on the easy slope next to the Magic Carpet ski lift. Once they had turns and stopping figured out they graduated to using the chair lift and skiing down some of the bigger slopes. These students look forward to skiing again with their learning communities in March or with their families at Smuggler's Notch Ski Resort or Jay Peak before then.
Students comments the day after the trip:
"On the bunny hill it was really hard doing the turns, but once I got on the big hill it was a lot easier. I fell a lot but... I want to do it again."
"I got out on the chairlift. It was fun. I was going really fast downhill.
"The hardest part was the beginning of the big hill because it was really steep."
"I went on the chairlift. It was cool. I want to do it again. It was really fun and I like the feeling of skiing. Balancing was hard. I did not fall that much."
"Yesterday was my first time ever. I liked it. I want to do more of it. It was kind of like sledding except you weren't sitting you were standing up. I started to get good at stopping, but I am not good yet at turning. The best part of the experience was staying out on the slopes and going down three times. I can keep getting better and better and achieve."
