REPORTS AND PICTURES
NEWS FROM TEAM USA
Team USA was visited by avid fisherman, Rhey Plumly. In conjunction with our Trout in the Classroom project, Rhey shared his expertise in fly tying. Our small group ended up learning the skills and materials needed for making some simple flies. They were proud of the three flies they made.
Our trout will be staying with us until the first few weeks of June when we will release them in a local stream. Feel free to stop by to take a look or request a presentation.
SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium) TESTING
Students in grades 3-8 began taking a series of on-line tests to measure achievement in English and Math on Tuesday 5-16-2017.
The digital tests and resources of the SBAC tests are designed to support teaching and learning, allowing all students to demonstrate what they know. The online format has extended research, writing, and problem solving tasks that measure the critical thinking and problem-solving skills students need for success. Students take a customized test using a computer adaptive format: questions get harder when students answer correctly and easier when they answer incorrectly, allowing students to better demonstrate what they know.
