Ms. Haberman's room, 10-11-2017 RAIN GARDEN REQUEST FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF Many of you may have noticed that a pathway is being beaten through the lower rain garden to get to the basketball court. Would you mind avoiding this pathway? It is compacting the area right where water exits the drainage pipe, reducing the wetland's ability to absorb and clean the water runoff. This route can also be slippery and dangerous to walk through when the grass and ground is wet. Thank you. BUS LOOP EXPANSION With the district busing reorganized this school year, St. Albans City School now has 10 buses arriving and leaving together twice a day. Our currently-configured bus loop was not built for this volume of buses. To remedy the situation construction took place on Thursday 10-12-2017 to modify the sidewalk and widen the asphalt surface to help alleviate the congestion. An equally important goal was make it safer for kids walking next to the buses. FAIRFAX RELAYS (COSTUME RACE) One of the most enjoyable events of the cross-country season is the costume race held at BFA Fairfax each October. Students from many middle and high schools from around the region converge to compete in a costume contest and then a very hilly race. For middle school and high school, the boys and girls run together. It was great fun to see the many creative costumes displayed and worn over the rugged race course. Ask any cross country runner on the team what it was like competing there. 10-10-2017. CHECK OUT THIS LINK TO PICTURES OF THE RACE
