BAND

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.

Beginning violins group 1 have lessons this afternoon, and group 2 on Tuesday.

Sr. Band is rehearsing today at 2.

Band lessons are for B week. 8th-grade flutes, Georgia, Zach, Jordan, Matt, John, 8th alto sax.

Aliyah and Hailey also have a clarinet lesson this morning.

The City School has had a professional jazz performer offer to come to City and work with our Jazz Band on Wednesday morning. The Jazz Band would like to have a special rehearsal from 9:30 to 10:45 on Wednesday morning.

Join us for a night of learning and creating as we dive into math for grades 1-3!


We will begin the evening with a presentation about our math curriculum, how we teach math, and mathematical strategies.
We will finish the night with an opportunity for you to explore, make, and take different games and materials home for you and your family.

Who:  Students in Grades 1-3
What:  Fun games with BFA students
Cost: $2 (proceeds donated to Hannaford’s Helping Hands Boxes)


Please sign the permission slip below and return to your child’s teacher.  There will be NO transportation so you will need to pick up your child by 4:30 in the lobby.

DAY OF CODE

December 5-11 is computer science week, a global event with over 180 countries participating! This special week will be highlighted to raise awareness around computer science and programming.

On Thursday, December 7th, we will be celebrating and participating in Day of Code! We challenge YOU to spend at least 1 hour (or more!) on this day, learning about programming and coding. We will have resources for iPads, tablets, Chromebooks, and other activities that require no technology at all!

If you are feeling adventurous, check out the resources at the Hour of Code site for some more information.

SWITCHYARD MOBIL DONATION
Each year the staff at Switchyard Mobil on Lake Street generously select St. Albans City School to receive a $500 grant from their organization for Math and Science. The check was delivered to SACS and accepted by Ms. Stacie Rouleau on behalf of the school. 11-10-2017. Thank you Switchyard Mobil.




VETERANS CAME FOR BREAKFAST ON FRIDAY 
Team USA organized a well-attended breakfast for veterans in the library on Friday, 11-10-2017.  Students served the veterans and thanked them for their service. Kindergarteners came by at the end of the breakfast and gave veterans cards in honor of their service.

It has been a busy Veterans-Day-Week for the USA students and staff. This picture was taken after the majority of their Veterans Day plans had come to fruition.




VETERANS DAY WOVEN BANNER
Each learning community received a large strip of white paper to decorate with red and blue crayons. These strips were assembled and woven together by representatives from each community on Friday 11-10-2017. Nice job everyone.
