WALKING CONTEST GUIDELINES
On SBAC testing days all laps around the walking path count double towards the contest. The people doing the tally at the end of the week will double your laps for you on SBAC days. Do not double your own laps.
All laps must be completed on the ½ mile gravel walking path. Laps indoors, around the gyms or beyond the school campus on field trips will not count! Tally sheets will be left on clipboards on a table next to the recess shed.
The success of this contest depends on the honesty of all participants. Only record the actual amount of laps you completed. Thank you.
Tally sheets will be analyzed each Monday and updates on the contest scores will be provided each Tuesday in our announcements. |
PICTURES AND REPORTS
WALKING (BIKING) WEDNESDAY RESULTS
80 people biked to school on Wednesday, May 9th, which is a new school record. In addition, 171 people walked. The grand total was 251 people including students, staff, and a few parents. Let's keep up this kind of turnout as we enjoy a good social time walking and biking together. Walking and biking help us arrive at school ready to learn and in better health. Thank you to everyone who joined in or helped out.
Team Triumph really excelled with 43 students (out of 61) who walked and biked to school. Other teams will have to promote Walking Wednesdays vigorously if this is their chosen route to the pool party at the end of the school year. Impressive participation Triumph!
HELMETS PROTECT BIKERS
About a dozen helmets were handed out to students on Walking/Biking Wednesday. We have dozens more to hand out, especially in the small-medium sizes. If you are a student in need of a helmet, and you want to ride safely to school, we can help you out. Please see Mr. Craib mcraib@maplerun.org or Mrs. Wade to collect one. Here is the agreement: If you agree to take one, we would really like to see you riding to school with it on your head. You can thank Local Motion for making these lightly used helmets available for free to our students.
Bikers received a reflective wrist band on Wednesday.
SBAC RECESS
A lot of pent-up energy needs releasing on standardized testing days and that was certainly the case midday on Wednesday 5-9-2018. Almost every student was seen outside in the enjoying the pristine weather. LINK TO 11 PICTURES
