EVENTS AND NOTICES
REACHING ST. ALBANS CITY SCHOOL BY PHONE Over the next two weeks, our school will be installing a new phone system. This change is welcome since our old system is beginning to fail. For example, right now we have no voicemail system so if you want to reach us with a question or information you will need to do so during working hours - 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday-Friday. We appreciate your patience as we upgrade our infrastructure.
DO YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO WALK OR BIKE SAFELY TO AND FROM THE WALMART / HANNAFORD / PRICE CHOPPER SHOPPING DISTRICT?
Consider attending a public meeting on Tuesday, August 14th. You can hear what is being proposed and can voice your interests and concerns. |

CLiF BOOKS FOR KIDS
Boxes of wonderful books arrived from the Children's Literacy Foundation on Tuesday 8-7-2018 for the St. Albans City School summer CLIF book day. Then on Wednesday 8-8-2018, Becky Rupp, a Dorothy Canfield Fisher Children's Book Award nominee, came to read to children and to talk to them about books. She proved to be a gifted story-teller and reader. Becky's knowledge and love for books poured out and those factors animated the waves of kids who came through the school's library to hear her present. At the beginning of each 1/2 hour book session, our children's attention was observed to be a little scattered. By the end of each presentation, Becky had everyone's complete focus. The presentations ended with each student getting a chance to select two books to take home to own and read for pleasure. In summary, this was a day where reading was celebrated as a joy to listen to and do. LINK TO 46 PICTURES Fun fact. Aside from being an accomplished author, Becky Rupp earned a Ph.D. in cell biology. |
