EVENTS AND NOTICES

ORCHESTRA
New Orchestra teacher, Mr. Rusty Charpentier came by St. Albans City School to see how he could let you know about joining the district orchestra. He decided that a short video might be best as a way to get the information across to you. Would you be interested in playing in the Maplerun Unified School District Orchestra? If so, check out this brief video he made.  LINK TO 2-MINUTE LONG VIDEO

Here is another offering you might want to consider from Mr. Charpentier:

"New at SACS and all MRUSD schools this year, students may now enroll in Orchestra! In Orchestra students can learn the skills necessary to play the violin, viola, cello, or bass. If you're curious about playing an orchestral instrument, come to the instrument "petting zoo" on September 5th any time between 4-6pm in the SATEC Kiva. You'll get to see performance demonstrations, try each of the orchestral instruments, and learn about how to participate in your school's orchestra program. Follow the link to see and share the PETTING ZOO FLYER.  If you already know you'd like to join, you can fill out this ORCHESTRA REGISTRATION FORM and Mr. Charpentier will contact you with further information. Contact Alex "Rusty" Charpentier at acharpentier@maplerun or 802-752-2777 with any questions.

REPORTS AND PICTURES

TEACHERS PLAYED RECESS GAMES
On the last day of teacher in-service (Friday 8-24-2018) teachers moved outside and played some recess games popular with or unfamiliar to students. The game that attracted the most teachers was the new gaga ball pit. Quite a few teachers got dusty feet leaping around while trying to avoid getting hit by the gaga ball. Other games that proved popular were the cornhole bean bag toss, foursquare, and croquet. Students, now you know that teachers like to play and move at recess time too.  LINK TO 37 PICTURES

PARAEDUCATOR MENTORING PROGRAM AT SACS
St. Albans City School is working with representatives from the Vermont National Educators Association (NEA) and Maple Run Unified School district to help new paraeducators acclimate to their jobs. Seasoned paraeducators paired up with new paraeducators to advise and support them during the upcoming school year. The hope is to optimize their job success and to improve retention for these important educators. On Monday (8-27-2018) both sets of paraeducators came in on their own time to participate in a workshop that clarified their duties, expectations and limitations.
