MOVE UP DAY
Parents and Families of 8th Graders

On Friday, May 24th, 2019, your eighth grader will be taking a bus to BFA for Move Up Day. This is an annual event to introduce eighth graders to the expectations associated with their upcoming ninth grade year. This is always an exciting day. BFA staff and students will be on hand to guide the eighth-grade students through the orientation program. Additionally, it is an opportunity to meet fellow eighth graders from the other sending schools.

Lunch will be provided by BFA. Your eighth-grader will be dismissed from BFA at 2:00 P.M. and will be walking home from there.  If you choose to do so, you may pick your child up at BFA at that time. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact your eighth-grade learning community or contact school counselor, Allison Goldsmith, at agoldsmith@maplerun.org or 527-0565 ext. 3874.

PICTURES AND REPORTS

INCREDIBLES LIP-SYNC BATTLE ROUND 2
In round 2, students not participating voted for their favorites.  The top vote-getters moved on and had to pick a song at random.  None of the students knew their song until a couple of days before recording.  Enjoy.

HOPE (Hands on Practical Education) PARTNERS WITH JEFF'S MAINE SEAFOOD

Four students and Mr. Hoben transported a stack of beautiful cutting boards that were handcrafted in their workshop in the kindergarten hallway. Chef, Jeremy Howe, accepted the boards on behalf of the restaurant. Some boards will be used to serve customers and others will be sold to customers who want one of their own. This stack of boards is the entire remaining stock that students created this school year. Next year they plan to be making and selling many more. During the delivery, one student interviewed chef Howe about the restaurant's planned use and sale of the cutting boards. LINK TO 7 PICTURES

NEW GONG FOR THE MUSIC PROGRAM
Mr. Kelly purchased a specially made Japanese gong that needed to be mounted on a stand. The HOPE program kindly built a stand from wood that came from our old bleachers. It was delivered on Wednesday by several students and those present tried the gong out. It makes VERY impressive and long lasting sound!

PE PICTURES
A few photos were taken days back in Mr. Branon and Ms. Jarvis' teaching space.
