5th GRADE BAND PRACTICE
On Thursday morning 5th graders gathered in Mr. Kelly's band room to practice using their instruments and reading music. Mr. Kelly kept the practice session fun and focused. 10-10-2019  LINK TO 24 PICTURES

FIRE SAFETY INSTRUCTION (PREK AND KINDERGARTEN)
On Monday and Tuesday of this week, Fireman Nate met with each PreK and Kindergarten classroom group to introduce them to the work of firefighters. Even though fireman Nate is a big man with large bulky equipment, he clearly has a friendly personality that did not intimidate young kids. Everyone loved seeing him show how to put on and take off his firefighting uniform and they thrilled in sitting inside the large firetruck he brought over to our school. While in the classroom, students had a chance to ask plenty of questions and learn about how to act around fire.  LINK TO 23 PICTURES

BLUE BLOCK PLAY
Blue blocks are large foam shapes that are light-weight and a joy to create with. Ms. DeBari hung out with one student and the blue blocks while waiting for the rest of his classroom group to arrive in the large gym. There was some good imaginary sword play and cat cycle riding. The second picture is of Ms. Andrews class cleaning up the blocks before shifting to a different learning experience. 10-10-2019.

MORE ON THE DRAINAGE SYSTEM
The drainage pipe repair on the western side of the lower soccer field was completed on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday morning, the equipment operators moved to the east side of the field and took care of a potential winter sledding hazard. A portion of the drainage pipe was covered with a concrete cap that stuck up above the ground. Some students had a tendency to snow tube downhill too closely to this object in winter. The repair staff were able to lower the cap below ground which will be a relief for teachers who have to supervise the area.
