WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9th
WALKING WEDNESDAY IS TODAY
PICTURES AND REPORTS

MEASUREMENT DAY
On Tuesday morning 1st, 3rd and 5th graders had their height and weight measured to determine the average Body Mass Index of our student population. The health promotion organization, RiseVT, performs these measures in our school district on a yearly basis to determine if the children in our community are experiencing enough exercise and receiving healthy nutrition. St. Albans City School has made many changes in the last decade to increase opportunities for exercise and to provide access to healthy food. The previous set of measurements showed that Franklin county has high rates of obesity and the hope is that our schools will be able to make a difference in changing that situation. 10-8-2019

Mr. Moretti and these students traded jokes while the students waited to be measured.

This is one of the height measurement tools that were used during the morning

Some of the RiseVT staff were photographed setting up their computers to process the data

MAKERSPACE (10-8-2019)

This student used an app on the ipad to make a stop motion animation of how to fold this origami pattern

The two students in the center of the picture used a button press to make buttons encompassing their own art. Ms. Borst supervised the process.

The 3-D printer was photographed printing out a cartoon character designed by a student.

MINDFULNESS IN CONNECTIONS

These students relaxed on the floor while practicing mindfulness. Picture from Ms. Pizzaro.

OPPORTUNITY FOR 6/7/8th GRADE GIRLS

St. Albans City School continues
with the 50th Birthday Celebration

In 1970 Mrs. Lamb was a 7th-grade student here at City School. She remembers a time capsule being placed behind the 1968 stone during the school dedication ceremony. After some research, we did confirm there is something behind the 1968 stone.

We will be removing the time capsule this fall. The contents will be revealed 50 years later during Unified Arts Night on February 20, 2020. Put the date on your calendar and join us for UA night and more 50th Birthday celebrations!
