MONDAY, JANUARY 27th

Saturday, February 15th from 5pm-7pm Featuring  The Smokey Newfield Project This event is open to the public Donations will benefit the Middle School music trip to the  “Trills and Thrills” Festival at the Great Escape.  Please sign up with Mr. Kelly or Ms. Hartman to reserve a spot              Food Donations can be brought to Mr. Kelly or Ms. Hartman 7th GRADE BASKETBALL TEAM & HEALTHY MEALS The 7th-grade boys basketball team learned about sports nutrition and the importance of fueling your body with healthy foods. The team cooked their own team dinner that consisted of baked garlic and herb chicken, roasted vegetable medley, and roasted potatoes.  Check out the pictures of the delicious food they created. LINK TO 24 PICTURES by Mr. Bushey. NEW AND OLD TIME CAPSULES Come and see what is in the original time capsule on February 20th. See the announcement below. Our school is preparing a new time capsule for the next 50 years and some communities are having team pictures taken to add to that capsule. ROOT CROPS IN THE CAFETERIA The Abbey staff chopped up turnips and parsnips on Thursday morning for the lunchtime meal. These are very healthy root crops to eat. One important goal of our foodservice is to introduce students to potentially unfamiliar healthy local foods. Thanks to this mission, the Abbey is finding that students from St. Albans City School show diverse and healthy eating habits when they enter BFA. These students tend to stand out from the crowd of students from across the district. Turnips are shown before being chopped up. PARENT COMMUNITY COUNCIL Wednesday, January 29th from 6:00-7:30 we are having our first Parent Community Council Meeting. New Parents are always welcome. The Agenda for our first meeting is: What is a Title I school? How should we spend our Parent Involvement Funds? Raider Learns to Own It , Fix It and Move On A new Pilot Program that will run in February. YEARBOOK COMMITTEE The eighth-grade yearbook committee is moving on to collecting other information and pictures for the 2020 yearbook. If you have a childhood picture to contribute to the yearbook, now is the time to produce it.
