SNACKS
MONDAY - Apples
It turns out that eating an apple a day really does keep the doctor away -- but you've got to eat the peel. And no fair skipping the apple altogether in favor of megadoses of vitamins in pill form. Fruits and vegetables in their natural state are better, Cornell University researchers say. June 21, 2000 |
TUESDAY - Carrots
Evidence suggests that eating more antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables, such as carrots, can help reduce the risks of cancer and cardiovascular disease. Carrots are also rich in vitamins, minerals, and fiber.Reference |

PICTURES AND REPORTS
VETERANS DAY BREAKFAST AND SPEECH PICTURES Every year, and just prior to Veterans Day, Team USA organizes a breakfast for any military members that wish to come. Fresh fruit and muffins highlight the meal where students get to meet and appreciate former and present military members. Short speeches were given by several of the students at the conclusion of the breakfast 11-8-2018. The celebration closed with a reminder about the parade and speeches in the city center to be given on Veterans Day, November 11th between 10:30 and 12:00 Sunday. VETERANS DAY PARADE AND CEREMONY ON SUNDAY Several of our students spoke at the ceremony and more attended the parade and event. LINK TO PICTURES supplied by team USA. VETERANS DAY PRE-K AND KINDERGARTEN RUNNING RACE Our youngest students gathered for a lap around the exterior of the girls' soccer field. Seventh and eighth grades joined them to make the experience a shared and joyful one. Check out the pictures to see what the event was like. LINK TO 31 PICTURES VETERANS DAY 1st-3rd GRADE RUNNING RACE This was a large event with a good effort put out by all involved. Many students discovered that even though the day was cold their bodies got warm quickly as they ran 1 3/4 loops around the walking path to complete a mile. There was a very close race finish between the fastest boy and girl. LINK TO 51 PICTURES VETERANS DAY 4-6th GRADE RUNNING RACE This was the largest group to participate and there was strong competition on the boys and girls side. LINK TO 59 PICTURES VETERANS DAY 7-8th GRADE RUNNING RACE This was the smallest of the running races held on Thursday. There were a few strong performances up front. Many chose to walk the majority of the course. The top boy and girl were very close together. LINK TO 30 PICTURES WALKING WEDNESDAY PICTURES A surprising number of people walked or biked to school on November 7th. Here are just a few pictures of the participants. Thank you to all who came out on that special day! LINK TO 30 PICTURES
