EVENTS AND NOTICES

BFA Parent Night- Time Change!

In anticipation of the snowy weather- and for the safety of our students and families- we are canceling the Tuesday, Feb. 12 Parent Night held in the SACS library from 6-7pm. In lieu of this event, we will hold the 8th Grade Transition Presentation during the day on Tuesday, Feb. 12 from 11:15am-11:45am in our library. At this time, all 8th grade students will learn more about BFA’s course offerings and receive all paperwork necessary for a smooth transition to 9th grade. Parents and families are still welcome, but for those who are unable to attend on such short notice, we will be filming the presentation, to be posted in Wednesday’s announcements. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact SACS School Counselor, Allison Goldsmith, at agoldsmith@maplerun.org or 527-0565 (ext. 3874).

Wishing you well

THERE WILL BE NO ORGANIZED

We will be drawing names for awesome prizes.  If you give the DJ, 50 cents, you can give a shout out to a friend. There will be drinks, snacks and sweets for sale as well. Students will be expected to follow all dance expectations. Students will need to be dropped off at the gym doors entrance and picked up at the front entrance of the school. Please make sure that you are on time to pick up your child.

FAMILIES OF 4TH AND 8TH GRADERS
On Friday, February 22nd, 4th grade will take the NAEP assessment. The links below will take you to letters that explain the expectations for that measurement.

What is NAEP?
It is a Common Measure of Student Achievement

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is the only assessment that measures what U.S. students know and can do in various subjects across the nation,
states, and in some urban districts. Also known as The Nation’s Report Card, NAEP has provided important information about how students are performing academically since 1969.

PICTURES AND REPORTS

EVACUATION DRILL
On Monday (2-11-2019) St. Albans City School practiced an evacuation procedure. The youngest students filed from their classrooms to the little gym and the older students assembled in the large gym. Everything about departing classrooms and moving through the school towards key exits was the same as in a real drill with the exception that students were not required to exit the building onto buses. Students were silent during the procedure and did an effective job going where they needed to.

BOYS 5/6 BASKETBALL
Here are pictures from the 5/6 boys basketball teams. The white team's record is 7 wins and 1 loss. These photos are from their game against Fairfax on Saturday 2-9-2019.

The navy team's record is 9 wins, 0 losses and 1 tie. The navy team ended up tying 22-22 against Swanton on Saturday.

NORTHWESTERN MEDICAL CENTER HEALTHY HEARTS EVENT
On Saturday (2-9-2019) hundreds of families visited St. Albans City School to check out the annual Healthy Hearts Fair. This is always a very child and adult friendly event with entertaining booths and activities and plenty of tasty healthy food. Check out the pictures from the fair.  LINK TO DOZENS OF PICTURES

STRINGED INSTRUMENT PRACTICE WITH MR. CHARPENTIER
Mr. Rusty Charpentier works with students who play stringed instruments in all the district schools. Students were photographed in the main music room practicing on Monday afternoon (2-11-2019). Everyone seemed to be in good spirits and, although most students were beginners, they sounded good.  LINK TO 17 PICTURES
