HARVEST OF THE MONTH

The Abbey Group prepares food for our students and staff and strives to provide as much locally grown food on our menus as possible. The food is healthy and our consumption of these vegetables and fruits helps support local farmers.

This month Cabbage is the harvest of the month and we will see cabbage at some of our meals.

Producer Spotlight: Heartwood Farm

This month, participating schools in Northern VT will receive cabbage from Heartwood

Farm. Heartwood Farm, located on six acres of land in South Albany, grows a variety of

produce and makes wood-fired maple syrup the old-fashioned way. For husband and

wife team, Meghan Stotko and Andy Paonessa, their soil is just as important to them

as their food and they strive to be good stewards of the earth with their farming

practices. Learn more about their program here.

RECESS WEATHER

Serious melting expected by midday. Get out early if you want to avoid lots of slush.

ATHLETICS:

Basketball photos will be taken by Leonard Parent within the next few weeks. Each team will have received picture packages by the end of this week for their respective photo day. Please fill out the form and hold on to it until picture day.

A NOTE FROM OUR NURSES TO STUDENTS AND FAMILIES

Know Your Dose

Acetaminophen, often known as Tylenol, is a medication found in over 600 prescription and over the counter medicines. It is often found in cough, cold, allergy medicines, pain relievers and fever reducers. Due to the fact that acetaminophen is found in so many items, it can be easy take more than the daily recommended amount. It is key to always read the label of all medications that you take. Consuming too much acetaminophen can lead to liver damage.

Wednesday, February 6th. 6:45 to 7:30 AM.

FAMILIES OF 4TH AND 8TH GRADERS
On February 8th, 4th and 8th grades will take the NAEP assessment. The links below will take you to letters that explain the expectations for that measurement.

What is NAEP?
It is a Common Measure of Student Achievement

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is the only assessment that measures what U.S. students know and can do in various subjects across the nation,

states, and in some urban districts. Also known as The Nation’s Report Card, NAEP has provided important information about how students are performing academically since 1969.

BFA PARENTS NIGHT AT ST. ALBANS CITY SCHOOL
Preston Randall, Director of Guidance, will be coming to City School to discuss the transition from 8th to 9th grade- talking a little bit about BFA, giving an overview of the paperwork that students and families are required to fill out (academic and elective course selection), and answering any questions. For students and families who are unable to attend- no fear! We will be handing out and going over paperwork in classes, as well. Everyone will get what they need.

Tuesday, February 12th
