HARVEST OF THE MONTH The Abbey Group prepares food for our students and staff and strives to provide as much locally grown food on our menus as possible. The food is healthy and our consumption of these vegetables and fruits helps support local farmers. This month Cabbage is the harvest of the month and we will see cabbage at some of our meals. Producer Spotlight: Heartwood Farm This month, participating schools in Northern VT will receive cabbage from Heartwood Farm. Heartwood Farm, located on six acres of land in South Albany, grows a variety of produce and makes wood-fired maple syrup the old-fashioned way. For husband and wife team, Meghan Stotko and Andy Paonessa, their soil is just as important to them as their food and they strive to be good stewards of the earth with their farming practices. Learn more about their program here. |

It is often found in cough, cold, allergy medicines, pain relievers and fever reducers. Due to the fact that acetaminophen is found in so many items, it can be easy take more than the daily recommended amount. It is key to always read the label of all medications that you take. It is a Common Measure of Student Achievement The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is the only assessment that measures what U.S. students know and can do in various subjects across the nation, states, and in some urban districts. Also known as The Nation’s Report Card, NAEP has provided important information about how students are performing academically since 1969.

PICTURES AND REPORTS
SACS HISTORY PHOTOS ON DISPLAY Ms. Wight has assembled an array of amazing historic photos in the hallway outside of the big gym and music room. Check them out on Unified Arts night this Tuesday. ST. ALBANS CITY SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION PICTURES
FIRST GRADE CLASSROOM - In section B. this room is filled with shelves and coat hangers for other rooms and will need to be cleaned before the room can be prepared for class.

HIGH RISE - Come snow, come cold, work on the new St. Albans Elementary School continue, as shown above. Rising high are prestressed cement columns and in the background a giant crane proceeds to place another. Work is going on schedule, school officials say.
The newly arrived pieces of kitchen equipment for the cafeteria sit in their boxes in the cafeteria awaiting installation.
BLOCK B INTERIOR - The above photo shows Charles LeClair, left, painting foreman for Bert’s General painting co., subcontractors for the interior painting at the new school, and son, Charles Jr., Putting the final touches on a door casing in Block B as the painting and electrical work in that section are being completed prior to carpet laying.
COVER UP - Workman at the site of the new St. Albans Elementary School place tarpaulins over newly-laid cement, at the end of the day, to protect it from winter elements until it hardens overnight. Jubilant School Board chairman Eli Shapiro has expressed his satisfaction at the way the work is progressing with the weather holding so that the construction may continue.
