With the collaboration of Andrew Palumbo (SATEC band director), St Albans City School will get to host the Vermont Youth Philharmonia. The orchestral ensemble is comprised of students from across the state who perform in schools around Vermont. The concert will consist of classical songs as well as contemporary favorites that students may recognize.
This is a unique opportunity for our students to see their peers from all over Vermont performing a competitive repertoire of music.

PICTURES AND REPORTS
WALKING WEDNESDAY RESULTS FOR APRIL 2019 101 Students and 11 adults walked into school yesterday morning (4-3-2019) on April's only official Walking Wednesday. Given the time of year and weather conditions, this was a normal turnout. In May we will be holding Walking Wednesdays every week and anticipate walking/biking numbers in the 200 range each Wednesday. This Walking Wednesday, the Travelers had the best turnout. For years the Travelers have had great participation on all the walks and deserve recognition for their effort.
Some of the Travelers who walked on Wednesday
LINK TO 26 PICTURES from Walking Wednesday WALKING WEDNESDAY RESULTS FROM MARCH 2019 Mr. Craib was away and did not previously report last month's findings in the announcements. Here those results are for those who want to know. Seventy-four students and 10 adults walked to school in spite of very icy sidewalks on 3-13-2019. It had been a rough winter for Walking Wednesdays with January and February's events canceled due to weather and sidewalk conditions. Therefore, it was impressive to have 84 participants under the circumstances. Renaissance had the best turnout for the event. Congratulations.
WARM MAPLE SYRUP SAMPLES HANDED OUT
For walkers, bikers, and others walking in the front doors of the school, there was a surprise treat. Some of the syrup made on school property by HOPE (Hands on practical education) was given to entrants in small paper sampling cups. 175 samples were served to the delight of most people who gave them a try.
RECESS SHED USE THIS SPRING
The recess shed equipment has been changed out for the Spring season. We don't anticipate another serious snow storm, so the snow tubes and snowshoes have been put away until next winter. The shed has been swept out and a number of balls have been added to it. The shed will be opened up daily before 8:00 AM and closed at 2:45 PM. See Mr. Craib or Mr. Cioffi to open the shed should it remain locked for an unknown reason. These are the balls now in the shed.
2 green & black basketballs
2 regular orange basketballs
1 large kickball and 1 small one
1 large football and 1 small one
1 gaga ball (this can stay out in the pit at the end of the school day)
Soon we will add some soccer balls.
Guidelines for use.
The recess balls belong to all of us. Please take care of them by returning all balls to the shed when you are done playing. The last learning community outside for play at the end of the day should collect all loose balls and return them to the shed. You will be greatly appreciated for your effort.
