WINTER INSTRUMENTAL CONCERT
Last week, Thursday 12-5-2019, a very successful concert was held in the large gym. The audience turnout was huge. Thank you to the amazing performers and family members and friends that attended. LINK TO 192 PICTURES

DAY OF CODE - "BACK IN TIME" STATION
Mrs. Wade and staff in the makerspace have assembled an array of cool obsolete technologies to show to young students. Items included at the "back in time" station were out of date phones, computers and gaming equipment. There were physical slides to handle, vinyl records to pull out of their sleeves, and lots more to see. If you have some unique old technology to permanently share with the makerspace staff and St. Albans City School staff, then let them know. Do realize that lots of kids will handle this equipment and there is a reasonable chance that items could be damaged. It would be best to donate what you have and wish it well as a permanent item for students to handle, rather than something you would expect to receive back in great shape. Thank you.  LINK TO 13 PICTURES

DAY OF CODE - BEE BOTS IN THE BAND ROOM STATION
Groups of students spent time in the band room experimenting with four different bee bots. These toys do a brilliant job of linking the process of programming and results. The buttons students pressed, and the sequence of pressing those buttons, led directly to interesting movement patterns.    LINK TO 14 PICTURES

DAY OF CODE - MAKING A LIVING BY STREAMING VIDEO GAME PLAYING
An online guest lecturer explained how he makes a living by streaming video his play of some prominent video games. He talked about the equipment needed for streaming and ways of finding and building a paying audience. The gist of his talk was that being financially successful at this kind of new occupation requires a surprising amount of dedication and hard work. 12-6-2019
