MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Dear St. Albans City School Families,

Tomorrow we are bringing back our first and second grade students for 4 days, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. As with our Kindergarten students, they will receive 6 meals on Thursday afternoon for Wednesday and the two weekend days.

Today was a busy day as we got the 8 classrooms ready for full classes of students. Our tables that are on order, and due two weeks ago, still have not arrived. By borrowing extra tables from SATEC and finding as many tables and desks as we could pull from our own school, every child will have their own workstation when they arrive tomorrow. Our new tables should arrive next week, and when they do we will swap out the ones we put in place today so that every child will have their own station and the stations in every room will match. We are so proud of our staff for their can-do attitude and flexibility.

Once we were done moving furniture, rooms were cleaned again and we are now ready for our full first and second grades tomorrow.

Thursday Night we also have a special evening Zoom offering for families. This year we are using online literacy and math tools to support students with basic skill areas. To show you where your child is currently performing we will be using the reports these programs generate. Ashley Levine and Kyle Ashton will be hosting a Zoom meeting to share with you how to read and understand these reports. Please fill out the Google form on the link below and you will receive a link to the Zoom 30 minutes before it begins.   https://forms.gle/GQXBYJcCG8B37rxi9

Please make sure to sign up for your virtual Learning Showcase with your child’s teacher or team. These will run most of next week. At this event your child will share their learning and portfolio. You will also get to see your child's actual literacy and math reports.

Finally, thank you all for your support and patience with us as we navigate the many hurdles that are thrown our way during this COVID year.

Our School Community is Raider Strong!

Joan and Stacie

TRAVELERS 1ST GRADE - LEWIS & WIGHT

Warm clothes were a necessity for most participants in Ms. Wight's PE bowling classes on Tuesday, 10-27-2020. In spite of the low temperatures, none of the kids seemed to be bothered by the cold because they were having so much fun. Link to 15 Pictures

ORGANIZING TABLES AND CHAIRS FOR 1st & 2nd GRADERS

A stated in the principal's and assistant principal's letter at the beginning of the announcements, the 1st and 2nd graders are returning to school four days a week starting Thursday, October 29th. This means that their classrooms have to have enough individual tables and chairs to accommodate both the formerly blue and green groups at one time. In anticipation of this date, new individual tables were ordered long ago. But, like many orders in this time of Covid-19, the arrival of those tables has been delayed. So, on Wednesday, teachers, education support professionals, administrators, and maintenance staff members scoured the building for any unused individual tables that could be used temporarily until the new matching tables arrive. These pictures show the searching, assembly, and distribution process.  Link to 18 Pictures
