NOTICE: The Maple Run Unified School Board seeks 3 parents, 3 students, 3 community members and 3 staff to participate on the School Resource Officer (SRO) Study Committee. This committee is charged with developing a well-supported, fact-based recommendation regarding the SRO position in the Maple Run Unified School District. The committee is expected to examine the SRO role in ways that may accommodate, as much as possible, the concerns of all parties with a goal of a consensus recommendation being the objective. The following questions will be answered by the Study Committee: • What do we want the roles/responsibilities or our SROs to be? • What roles/responsibilities are they performing now? • Are these roles/responsibilities being met as we would like them to be? • Who else could fulfill these and/or how else could these roles/responsibilities be met? • What is the recommendation as to how the role/responsibilities deemed necessary are fulfilled? Interested parties should download and complete the application found here: https://5il.co/msp3 and return it to Brenda Comstock bcomstock@maplerun.org no later than December 10, 2020. |
PICTURES NAVIGATORS - LAIDMAN Children spent a little time doing what interested them between guided learning experiences. Ms. Rie Asato-Ditch monitored their period of ‘choice time” in Ms. Laidman’s kindergarten classroom. 11-10-2020. Link to 24 Pictures NAVIGATORS - LAWYER A writer’s workshop was in progress at the time these photos were taken. The theme chosen by the students for their writing and artistic work of the day centered on the joy of summer. It was fitting given the incredibly warm and sunny weather outside on Tuesday, November 10th. Students drew pictures, wrote as well as they could at this age, and then presented their work to everyone. They were taken on Monday, November 9th, and were shared by Ms. Beck-Bryant and Ms. Trainer. Link 20 Pictures TWINS TUESDAY 11-10-2020 |

YEARBOOK COVER ART WANTED Hello 8th Graders and other artists. The yearbook committee is starting to put together the 2021 yearbook and we are asking for your help. If you have creative ideas and original artwork to share with us, then let us know right away. We want the blue and white school colors to be used for the artwork. The back cover should also use the school colors. There should be room on the front cover somewhere for a title and date, and on the back there should be room for a quote. We welcome inspiring quotes even if you don’t want to submit artwork. These are cover samples from recent yearbooks. Your submission may look completely different. Thank you for the help and if you have any questions, or are looking to submit cover art or a quote, then please contact Molly Clark at mlclark@maplerun.org or Mr. Craib at mcraib@maplerun.org |

HARVEST OF THE MONTH - Each month the Abbey group works to incorporate some locally harvested vegetables or fruit into our meals. This month sweet potatoes are the focus. SWEET POTATOES: Happy November! The trees have dropped their leaves, the temperatures are dropping, and the daylight is dwindling. What better time to nourish your body with this sweet and starchy root vegetable? Sweet Potatoes are rich in fiber and contain an array of vitamins and minerals such as iron, calcium, selenium, manganese and vitamins B, C, and E. They also contain an antioxidant called beta-carotene, which converts to vitamin A once consumed. Though many recognize sweet potatoes for their bright orange insides, they can also be white, yellow, or purple depending on the variety. |
