MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL Dear St. Albans City School Families, Thursday, November 12th, our 3rd and 4th-grade students came back for 4 days a week. As with other students we brought back 4 days a week, they will continue to learn remotely on Wednesday and will receive a bag of meals on Thursday to support families for the days they are not with us. If we are able to staff all support positions within the next two weeks, we will be bringing back 5th and 6th grade for 4 days starting December 3rd. We are hopeful and will let you know the status before we leave for Thanksgiving Break. We have received all results from our last positive case. All results have been negative. By following the strict guidance we were given, we have now had two cases and no spread at school. Testing results are still coming back very slowly, due to the data problems at UVM and having tests go out of state for processing. That is why we took so long getting this back to you. We would like to remind families that the state has very clear guidelines about holiday travel and gathering. If families do travel for the holidays, they will need to quarantine for two weeks. We will support your family with the use of our online tools (Lexia and iReady) and access to the lessons through the learning systems, SeeSaw, and Google Classroom. Please let your child’s teacher know so that we can make sure you have the tools you will need during your quarantine. We appreciate our families following this guidance so that we are able to keep the school open. Finally, thank you all for your support as we navigate this COVID year together. Our School Community is Raider Strong! Joan and Stacie |

STATE GUIDELINES ON OPEN BUS WINDOWS - EFFECTIVE 11-16-2020 As cold weather approaches, state guidelines for Covid bus safety are changing in order to keep our students safe and provide a level of comfort (Link to VT State Government Document). Students will continue to wear masks, have temperature checks, use hand sanitizer when not using gloves/mittens, and have assigned seating. Regarding proper ventilation, p.16 to 18 of the guidance (Link) includes that a MINIMUM of five windows/2 hatches (Driver, 2 front, 2 rear, 2 hatches) should be opened all the way during cold weather. During inclement weather a minimum of 10 windows/2 hatches or a total of 14 windows should be opened halfway to reduce rain/snow from entering the bus. As always, students should dress accordingly to stay safe, warm, and dry. Thank you for understanding that we are following all recommendations to keep everyone safe. |
