PICTURES AND NEWS

DREAMERS PRE-K SAFETY OFFICERS AND K9 VISIT - LEBLANC

School resource officer, Cadorette, and Sergeant Malinowski, and his (canine) K9 Ringo, visited Ms. LeBlanc’s preschool students. Officer Cadorette explained her duties here at school and the purpose of the equipment she carries on her person each day. Officer Malinowski talked about the police dog he manages and the tasks the dog is capable of doing. He then brought Ringo the dog into the classroom for a visit and demonstration of his ability to search for and find items of interest. The dog was extremely energetic and friendly. It was like a whirlwind of energy had entered the classroom. The students were very excited by the visit as was Ringo.  Link to 33 Pictures

INVESTIGATORS

The 1st-grade students in Ms. Fitzgerald’s classroom were learning spelling, reading, and writing skills all at the same time when these photographs were taken. 12-17-2020. Ms. Fitzgerald made the experience fun and motivating. Consequently, students were willing to stretch their abilities as they learned new skills. Link to 33 Pictures

COMFY CLOTHING DAYS

We are about to enter the long Holiday Break. As we lead up to these days, we want to have a little COVID-Safe School-Wide Celebration to end 2020.  So we are doing School-Wide Comfy Day.  For most of you, this will be Tuesday, December 22nd. For students that only attend on Green Days, it will be Friday, December 18th.  So we will all be in clothes that make us feel comfortable (pajamas, sweats, plaid...) - and the School Logistics Team will be providing popcorn.

While we can’t all be together, Mr. Craib will be around to take pictures so we can all see each other in the announcements.

BOTTLE DRIVE TO HELP WITH HOMELESSNESS

This year for my How I can Change the World project with Ms.K I decided to help with world homelessness. For this school project if we wanted to we are allowed to do a fundraiser. I thought because it was around the holidays I would help out.  I came up with an idea for a bottle drive. With the bottles that are collected, I will go to my local bottle donation center. With that money, I will buy toothbrushes, hats, gloves, blankets, food, etc. to donate to the homeless. If you would like to help, you could donate bottles from around your house. I am planning to do the bottle drive on December 20. From 12 pm-2 pm. I will be in front of the school that day so you can just drive by and drop them off. If it is easier for you, at arrival or departure on Friday you can drop bottles off in boxes we supply by the bus side and the flagpole/front entrance sides of the building. I would appreciate it if you could help out if you are able to. Thanks so much!

HERE ARE MORE NEW LIBRARY BOOKS TO CONSIDER READING

Ada Ríos grew up in Cateura, a small town in Paraguay built on a landfill. She dreamed of playing the violin, but with little money for anything but the bare essentials, it was never an option...until a music teacher named Favio Chávez arrived. He wanted to give the children of Cateura something special, so he made them instruments out of materials found in the trash. It was a crazy idea, but one that would leave Ada—and her town—forever changed. Now, the Recycled Orchestra plays venues around the world, spreading their message of hope and innovation.

It’s time to pick a class president, and Mindy really wants to win—and she’s basing her entire campaign on snacks and being kind, so how could she NOT be chosen?

But there is one big thing that Mindy is not sure she can do—make a speech to her class about why she would be the best pick for president. Can Mindy face her fears and show the class—and herself—that she can be the best class president ever?  This adorable chapter book about a young Asian American girl will be sure to inspire!

When Caitlyn Breen begins her disorienting new life at Mitchell School--where the students take care of real live goats and study long-dead philosophers, and where there are only ten other students in the entire seventh grade--it seems like nobody can stop talking about some kid named Paulie Fink.

Depending on whom you ask, Paulie was either a hilarious class clown, a relentless troublemaker, a hapless klutz, or an evil genius. One thing's for sure, though: The kid was totally legendary. Now he's disappeared, and Caitlyn finds herself leading a reality-show-style competition to find the school's next great Paulie Fink. With each challenge, Caitlyn struggles to understand a person she never met...but it's what she discovers about herself that most surprises her.
