LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL Written January 5, 2021 Dear St. Albans City School Families, Happy New Year! We are excited to welcome our students back from break on Thursday, January 7th for students in K-6, and Green prek and 7 & 8 students. Blue prek and 7&8 students will be back to in-person learning on Monday, January 11th. We hope that you had many wonderful moments that were peaceful and joyful. We are looking forward to seeing any of the family game night photos that our families took during this break. We hope the remote time provided the support families and staff needed to quarantine and test if they did gather with close family over the holidays. There is a pop-up test site in St. Albans that we want to make sure you are aware of. Testing will be happening on Wednesday, January 6th and Wednesday, January 13th at the St Albans State Office Building located at 27 Federal St in St Albans. Registering in advance is highly encouraged. To register for a Vermont Dept of Health pop up event, please visit: https://www.healthvermont.gov/covid-19/testing/where-get-tested. These testing sites are for asymptomatic individuals only-if you have COVID-19 symptoms please call your healthcare provider. We continue to appreciate all of the sacrifices that our families and staff are making to keep our school community safe and our school open. Please remember that only those students who are feeling well and have not been exposed to COVID should return. Students must remain at home if any of the following exist;
Tuesday, January 5th, we had our first fully remote day; and we put in place protocols that we will use if we need to offer remote learning snow days this year. We plan to learn from our pilot today, to provide to you our best practices during these challenging times. We appreciate all of your support and patience as we continue to learn new ways to stay connected and learning. Monday, January 4th took the place of the January 19th inservice day. That day will now be an in-person school day. We are looking forward to 2021 and continuing to support our school community. Joan and Stacie |
