EXPLORERS MUSIC - CAMERON-MUSCENTE

Ms. Cameron-Muscente popped into Ms. Dedios’ 1st Grade classroom to teach students a Chinese Fan Dance. She had folded two paper fans for each student to use in the dance. Ms. Cameron-Muscente showed students what to do while Chinese dance music played in the background. They did an excellent job mimicking her movements and enjoying the process. This experience was a thoughtful way to keep students interested in learning about music while remaining quiet and socially distant.  Link to 32 Pictures.

USA ART - MARTINSON

Students have been missing some of the art activities done more easily in art rooms in the past. Art teachers are now having to wheel their learning supplies into students main classrooms to minimize student movement around the building. Doing so has meant that working with something potentially messy, like clay, has gone by the wayside. This February Ms. Martinson wanted to change that situation and brought in a small claywork project to her 7th-grade students’ classrooms. She got them making clay pinch pots on portable clay-wheel-stands. Over a series of classroom periods they have been building their pots and then making sure they look just the way they want before they are placed in a kiln and baked into a permanent shape. She has been teaching them a range of techniques for refining their pots.  Link to 29 Pictures.

TRAVELERS - CULLIGAN

2nd-grade students in Ms. Culligan’s room are spending the week engaging in kindness themed work. On Monday morning (2-8-2021) they watch a brief “Kindness Soup” video in which they learned about the ingredients that go into acts of kindness. They were asked to recall a time when they acted kindly and then write about it. The photos capture them watching the video, talking about acts of kindness, and then doing their writing.  Link to 28 Pictures.

ADVENTURERS SNOWBOT

The kindergarten Adventurers’ group assembled outside of their classroom to make a cool wheelchair snowbot. They displayed their snowbot under the outdoor classroom arbor. They added to their display by hanging natural items frozen into ice from the arbor roof. 2-5-2021. Link to 12 Pictures.

8TH GRADER BABY PICTURES WANTED

The yearbook committee would like 8th graders to submit baby pictures for the yearbook. It is best if you submit digital copies of your pictures to Mr. Craib at mcraib@maplerun.org. If you need to bring in the original image for scanning, you can give it to your teacher who will pass it on to Mr. Craib. The picture will be scanned as soon as it is received and immediately returned safely to the student.
