INVESTIGATORS 1st GRADE - CAMERON-MUSCENTE

A seriously focused group of students in Ms. Fitzgerald’s classroom enjoyed the instrument making task music teacher Ms. Cameron-Muscente placed before them. After reviewing a short film about South American children making musical instruments from materials found in trash, Ms. Cameron-Muscente presented them with recycled cardboard and some rubber bands and told them to try something similar. Her sample creations showed how bent cardboard could be used to amplify the sound of vibrating rubber bands. The kids grasped the idea quickly and got down to making their own unique instruments using their scissors, coloring pens, and some masking tape supplied by the adults in the room. They were excited by the chance to take home their creations at the end of the day.  Link to 40 Pictures.

IMAGINATION 1st GRADE - CAMERON-MUSCENTE

Musical instrument making with Ms. Cameron-Muscente was the goal of 1st-grade classrooms on 2-4-2021. These pictures were taken of the Imagination 1st graders as they happily worked away. Link to 22 images.

OPEN DOORS FOOD CARVING

Ms. Margaux Vaillancourt has been working with 2nd-4th graders after school to create art with food.  Carving food is a commonly used technique in Europe and Asian countries, particularly in Thailand, China, and Japan! She and the students are using different grocery store foods and turning them into edible art! Link to 8 Pictures.

OPEN DOORS CREATIVE CREATIONS

Instructor, Wendy Trainer, shepherded 1st-3rd graders through an afternoon of craftwork. Her program uses wood, paper, and other supplies to make various creations. Safety Resource Officer, Kaylie Cadorette assisted with instruction.  Link to 4 Pictures.

8TH GRADER BABY PICTURES WANTED

The yearbook committee would like 8th graders to submit baby pictures for the yearbook. It is best if you submit digital copies of your pictures to Mr. Craib at mcraib@maplerun.org. If you need to bring in the original image for scanning, you can give it to your teacher who will pass it on to Mr. Craib. The picture will be scanned as soon as it is received and immediately returned safely to the student.
