VOYAGERS 5TH GRADE OUTDOOR PE - JARVIS

Students in Mrs. Jarvis’ PE classes were given many choices of activities to choose from during PE on the Friday before the mid-winter break.  Choices included snowshoeing, playing in a basketball scrimmage or a game of HORSE, hula hoops, jump ropes, and a game called weed whacker.

ADVENTURERS KINDERGARTEN BUTTER MAKING - FARRELL

Along with making woodland displays, and booklets (Link to Pictures of the displays) Ms. Farrell’s students made butter. Heavy cream was placed into a number of mason jars. Students put on gloves and then took turns shaking the jars for about seven minutes. This process caused the butter to separate from the liquid in the jars. The instructors in the classroom added the butter to ritz crackers and let students try out their dairy product. Most really liked it. 9 Pictures of them tasting the butter.

LOCAL MOTION - WAY TO GO!

The organization that provides a trailer full of bicycles for PE instruction each year donated two ski passes to our teachers. They did so to recognize St. Albans City School’s commitment to getting students and staff outside and exercising as much as possible this year. The passes were raffled off on Friday, February 19th, and the winner was Ms. Albrecht of Team Triumph. She will be using them at Smugglers Notch Ski Resort.

Way-to-Go is a state-wide organization that promotes walking, biking and carpooling to minimize fossil fuel use. It combined forces with Local Motion more than a year ago.

HARVEST OF THE MONTH - FOCUS ON LOCALLY SOURCED FOODS

WEATHER EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT WEEK

Looking ahead, it seems like we should have four more days for using the snow tubes before the snow melts excessively. Thursday and Friday will be very cold due to the wind so those will be marginal sledding days. Next week on Monday and Tuesday look best for sledding with very warm temperatures.
