FRIDAY, APRIL 9th
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL St. Albans City School COVID Update April 8, 2021 Dear St. Albans City School Families, Today we received information indicating that a member of our school community has tested positive for COVID 19. As part of our Health and Safety measures and in consultation with the Department of Health, we are having our students and staff in the affected class/es and other students and staff in the school who are considered a close contact move to a remote learning platform until all quarantining requirements have been met. All staff and students who are involved have been notified via a phone call or direct conversation. If you have not been contacted you or your children are not a close contact and you do not need to quarantine at this time. We encourage all staff, students, and families to follow all the necessary COVID guidelines (wearing masks, staying home when sick, physical distancing, and handwashing) and communicate with one of our nurses if you or your children might have symptoms or have tested positive with COVID-19. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support. Thank You Joan |

EARTH DAY CHALLENGE MESSAGE
Wondering what Earth Day is and how it got started? Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and now includes events in more than 193 countries. Because Earth day takes place when we are on Break, Triumph, Voyagers, Discovery would like to celebrate Earth Day next week from April 12th-15th. We want to recognize and do some educational activities this coming week and we would like to send a challenge to the rest of the school.
The Challenge: What can you do to make SACS more beautiful? Can you write a beautiful poem about the Earth? Could you pick up litter? Could you make an art project out of recycled materials? Etc... Share your work with Mr. Craib (mcraib@maplerun.org) and we'll do the same.

PICTURES VOYAGERS 5TH GRADE MUSIC - HARTMAN Ms. Hartman had the students make music with boomwhackers. These instruments are plastic tubes of different lengths that, depending on their length, emit differing sounds when whacked against the floor or tables. She supplied the students with sheets of color-coded music to follow. Students followed the patterns on the music sheets with their colored boomwhackers to make various tunes.
TRIUMPH - MAILLET 4th grade triumph invented a new game! They took turns tossing the hula hoop and trying to throw the ball through it! They had lots of fun. A bunch of students in our class also have been enjoying reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid and had book clubs of sorts! Here is a picture of two students independently reading and sharing parts that they really liked. MORE OUTDOOR RECESS PICTURES NEW OUTDOOR VOLLEYBALL NET On Thursday a volleyball net was set up by Mr. Pelkey to accommodate the new Spring outdoor sports activity starting up shortly. Voyagers and Connections teams spotted the net and took the opportunity to play on the court during their recess times on this amazing warm and sunny day. |
SPORTS SACS will offer "Open Field" afternoons to play catch and work on minor fundamentals for 5th-8th baseball and softball players only beginning April 12th. Here is first three weeks of Spring sports (with updated Open Field Times) |
