SPORTS THIS WEEK |
PICTURES USA CLASSROOMS The USA classrooms were more full than usual on Monday morning, May 17th, with the Mon/Tue groups combining with the Thu/Friday groups. Hybrid learning has come to an end for these middle schoolers. While there was nervousness at meeting peers for the first time, or from seeing them after more than a year of separation, it was something everyone quickly adapted to. Like the Renaissance students shown below, the USA students had an opportunity to connect with each other in a fun way during a group activity - visiting local parks in the afternoon before their departure. RENAISSANCE ICE-BREAKER ACTIVITY The Renaissance teachers started this Monday, the first day of everyone being back full time, with a reminder of their learning community’s expectations for safety, work, and behavior. That was followed by a series of pool noodle tag games outside on one of the soccer fields. Those less inclined to playing tag had a chance to meet or reacquaint themselves on the side of the field with their peers who they had not seen for over a year. 5-17-2021. VOLLEYBALL Two nets were set up at St. Albans City School on May 13th for coed teams of volleyball players to compete with each other. SACS has a young and talented squad that Ms. Lindstedt and Mr. DeFranco are coaching. These photos were shared by our athletic director, Ms. Beck-Bryant. OPEN DOORS TREASURE HUNTERS Ms. Trainer and Ms. Bessette supervised this bunch of avid treasure hunters on Thursday afternoon, May 13th. They took turns using a metal detector to look for surprises in the rubber chips below the playground equipment. There was plenty of excitement when coins were found. Link to 24 Pictures. Pictures provided by Ms. Bessette. SPORTS GEAR EXCHANGE Mr. Brown and Ms. Quinn managed a successful sports gear exchange last Saturday. Thanks to everyone who came and collected equipment or who brought equipment to give away. A number of kids got what they needed for the sports seasons ahead. BICYCLES With the return of warm weather, plenty of students are walking and biking to and from school. This is wonderful to see and good for their well-being. Twenty nine bicycles were counted parked around the building on Monday, May 17th. We encourage even more students to walk and bike if free to do so. |
