PICTURES TRIUMPH: BIRD DIVA, BRIDGET BUTLER, VISITED TO IDENTIFY A LOCAL RAPTOR FAMILY Mr. Marrin and various Triumph students had observed a large bird building a nest on a light tower in the Railroad yard behind the City Pool. He asked Bridget Butler to stop by and educate some of the Triumph students about the birds nesting there. She brought 10 pairs of binoculars and two high-powered scopes to observe the nest. In the half-hour that she was with the students, they did see several young birds in the nest but not the mother or father bird. Even so, Ms. Butler was able to identify the nest and the chicks as Ospreys. These are fishing raptors, similar to bald eagles. It was exciting to learn about these great birds. Link to 45 Pictures. NAVIGATORS: HANDLING HATCHED CHICKS - LAWYER & SCOTT These young children learned how to gently handle chicks in Ms. Lawyer’s classroom. Most of the chicks have hatched from the eggs that were incubated starting more than three weeks ago. Link to 11 Pictures. 5-27-2021. NAVIGATORS: MS. LAIDMAN’S CLASSROOM GROUP SHAVING CREAM FIGHT WITH MS. EMME What a mess to clean up. TWINS |

CARE PACKAGES TO SOLDIERS FROM ST. ALBANS CITY SCHOOL There are currently over 1,000 Vermont Army and Air Guard soldiers deployed around the world, performing various missions from Africa to Europe. Please help us in showing them support by giving a little hello from home by adding some items for care packages we will be sending in the next couple of weeks. Bins are located at the front of the school and will be collected by Team USA daily. Below are some of the items that soldiers have mentioned would be greatly appreciated:
Sometimes, a kind word of support and appreciation, a poem, or even a sketch or drawing mean just as much to a soldier far from home. We will also be collecting letters -- both to service members or their families – to show support and let them know we are thinking about them in these trying times. For the younger kids – soldiers love pictures and drawings – so please take a couple minutes to brighten the day for someone who is far from home. This will be an ongoing project so please keep the items and letters coming early and often. Any questions can be sent to Team USA Thank You |
