PICTURES DISCOVERY ART & FITNESS CAMP - LUCAS, BROWN, MARRIN Discovery students learned about the concept of Area and Perimeter after reading the book, "Spaghetti and Meatballs for All!" A mathematical story. They created many different seating arrangements to seat 32 guests using only 8 tables. This was a wonderful hands-on experience to visualize an often abstract concept. They used crates for the seats (perimeter) and sheets of white paper ( area) to create different seating arrangements based on the silly antics and guest arrivals in the book. Students continued to work on complex mathematical strategies using graph paper to create different rectangles and squares continuing to discover area and perimeter concepts. Link to the Pictures shown below. 7-13-2021 DISCOVERY ART - BROWN, MARRIN & LUCAS On Monday July 12, Discovery Art/Math/Fitness Mash-Up Campers explored the concept of symmetry in the world around us. In an art activity, they made Symmetry Name Creations. These pictures are made from the following names: Lilah, Hudson, Kaleb, Parker, Natalie, Emma, Mr. M, Brown, Lucas - can you tell which is which?! MINECRAFT BLUE BLOCKS - BROWN, WEISBURGH, CAMERON-MUSCENTE, BOUCHARD, MOSS, BENOIT, STEINHOUR These groups had fun making a mini golf hole and a small sheltered space. 7-13-2021 SEWING CAMP PAJAMA DAY - SATO, WIGHT, BROOMALL The students sewed pillows, blankets, and pillow cases so we celebrated with a pajama day!! Link to 4 Pictures. 7-12-2021 BAY PARK CAMP - MARTINSON, BRANON, LAMB, BRACE Each camp day starts out with campers spending an hour or more fishing. The instructors figured that halfway through the two-week camp session students would find various field games more appealing than fishing. Surprisingly, all the campers enjoy fishing first thing each morning. They also like playing the variety of field games offered. Here are some photos of some of their fish catches. July 6th-12th. MINECRAFT - BROWN, WEISBURGH, CAMERON-MUSCENTE, BOUCHARD, MOSS, BENOIT, STEINHOUR Campers built physical versions of their Minecraft characters.
