ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2nd
COVID UPDATE September 1, 2021 Dear St. Albans City School Families, Today we received information indicating that a member of our school community has tested positive for COVID 19. As part of our Health and Safety measures, we are having all unvaccinated students who may have been in close contact with this individual remain home until all quarantining requirements have been met. We have communicated with the affected students/staff via email or phone about their quarantine requirements. If you have not been contacted you or your children are not a close contact and you do not need to quarantine at this time.
We encourage all staff, students, and families to follow all the necessary COVID guidelines (wearing masks, staying home when sick, physical distancing, and handwashing) and communicate with one of our nurses if you or your children might have symptoms or have tested positive with COVID-19.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support. Joan and Stacie |

PICTURES ATHLETICS PROGRAMS ARE ROLLING AGAIN It is wonderful to see students joining teams and practicing soccer and cross country again. Below: Cross-country running with coaches Ms. Albrecht & Mr. Jetter. Role call and warmup games. Girl’s Soccer with Ms. Dupont - warming up WALKING WEDNESDAY RESULTS Note: Walking Wednesdays are an optional way to get to school. The regular buses continue to run on all of the 16 Walking Wednesdays scheduled for this school year. At least 125 Students walk or rode their bikes to school on Wednesday, September 1st. Quite a few teams had at least 15 students participate. Twenty-three adults accompanied the walkers on the seven Walking Wednesday Routes. This was a wonderful turnout for a program that had been shelved for over a year. Thanks to all the students, the families who let them walk and bike, and the staff and family members that shepherded them safely to school. Remember to hang onto those plastic foot tokens. Students will need 13 at the end of the year to earn a special water bottle. LIBRARY BOOKS With covid restrictions, traveling to the library to check out books is no longer possible. In spite of this obstacle, Ms. Levine and Ms. Seymour have found a way to get our library books into students’ hands. Ms. Levine is making the rounds to classrooms to guide students through the library book check-out website for St. Albans City School. On their Chromebooks, and within their classrooms, they can get online and put a hold on a book. Then, Ms. Levine or Ms. Seymour will find and deliver it to them within a day or two. Below: Ms. Levine explains the checkout website to students on the Incredibles team. Below: The books ordered by the group above are shown stacked for delivery. NAVIGATORS OUTSIDE PLAYTIME - LAWYER Ms. Lawyer’s students enjoyed the perfect weather while they played outside of their classroom. They chased each other, played with pull-back (spring-loaded) cars, blew bubbles, and made marble chute pathways. Link to 9 Pictures. 9-3-2021. INVESTIGATORS 3RD GRADE ART - COSTANTINO Magazines were cut up and images were pasted onto sheets of paper to make collages. This seemed to be a very appealing activity to these 3rd graders.
