WALKING WEDNESDAY IS TOMORROW, OCTOBER 20TH

The weather is predicted to be dry, cloudy, 50 degrees and with little wind.

This is an invitation to join this week’s Walking Wednesday. It still counts if you come by bicycle. The weather should be fine and you can enjoy company while walking/biking. We recommend that if you bike you travel independently.  Even if you don’t want stickers or walking foot trinkets, it would be helpful if you would check in at the front entrance so we know how many people walked and biked to school. Thank you.

ADVENTURERS KINDERGARTEN MADE CIDER WITH H.O.P.E.

A tradition that was put aside last year is taking place again outdoors and in the HOPE workshop space - cider making. First Mr. Deslauriers and Mr. Hoben gathered four students for a field trip to collect dropped apples from a local orchard for crushing and pressing to make juice. Those apples were trucked back to school, where students have been rinsing them clean and then crushing them in an Amish-made cider press. The kids in the pictures below, took turns on Monday morning (10-18-2021) dropping apples in the crusher while others turned the crushing and pulping machine. When enough apples had been mashed up to fill the tub below, a giant screw and heavy metal plate were used to place tremendous pressure on the crushed apples. Juice was squeezed out of the pulp and onto a platform and waiting container. The juice was then heated up to kill any bacteria in the liquid, and when cooled properly, shared with the students. Ms. Farrell's Adventurers group was very excited about every aspect of the cider makng project. Link to 44 Pictures.
