PICTURES RENAISSANCE 7TH GRADE CROSS COUNTRY SKI LESSONS Last Thursday, a representative from the Catamount Trail Association came to St. Albans City School to provide free cross country ski lessons and free access to equipment to a segment of our student population. The photos linked here show our 7th-grade students filling in a short survey asking about the sport, trying on boots, and testing out the skis and poles provided. The goal of the weekly lessons in January and February is to introduce the activity to students in the hope that they have fun and decide to do more of it on their own. Some waiver forms are still needed from the 7th graders before the equipment can be used by all of them. VOLLEYBALL PE - BRANON & JARVIS Mr. Branon and Ms. Jarvis are currently working with the 4-6th graders to help them gain fundamental volleyball playing skills. They have worked on ball handling previously. On Monday, they warmed up and then engaged in a form of volleyball that allows catching of the ball. Other volleyball rules, however, were followed. How to rotate, how to score, how to pass the ball, what boundaries to observe etc. Sportsperson-like behavior was also addressed as there is a need to be supportive of peers as they learn new skills.
