WALKING WEDNESDAY REPORT

One hundred and two students and eighteen adults (120 total) walked, scootered or biked to school. The weather was perfect for the event. Triumph and Imagination had really good turnouts but the same can be said for almost all the teams.  Link to 26 Pictures.

These two Triumph Walking Wednesday leaders brought bags along for their students to help pick up trash along the way.

This large group came from the Barlow Street, Lincoln, Taylor Park, and South Main Street areas. Link to video clip of the group crossing Elm Street.

Here are walkers from Messenger Street.

DISCOVERY’S SKI TRIP TO JAY PEAK

The team had beautiful weather for skiing. Here are 17 pictures provided by staff and parents of the event.

BOOKS TO EXPLORE IN OUR SCHOOL LIBRARY

The world is becoming more diverse, and so are the daily lives of our children. Accepting and valuing people and groups who are different from oneself and one's immediate family is a critical social skill. Accept and Value Each Person introduces diversity and related concepts: respecting differences, being inclusive, and appreciating people just the way they are.

Sadie feels like her thoughts are soaring into the clouds and she can’t bring them back down to earth. She has trouble paying attention, which makes keeping track of schoolwork, friends, chores, and everything else really tough. Sometimes she can only focus on her mistakes. When Sadie talks to her parents about her wandering, dreaming mind, they offer a clever plan to help remind Sadie how amazing she is.

While playing at the park, Caillou meets Sophie, a girl with autism.. She doesn’t speak, doesn’t like loud noises, but sees many beautiful things that other children usually don’t notice. In her very own way, she communicates with Caillou.

At her side, Caillou learns and understands that children with autism like to have fun, just like everyone. At the end of the day, Caillou is happy he made a new friend.
