PICTURES WALKING WEDNESDAY Sixty eight students and sixteen adults (84 total) walked to school on Wednesday morning. It was raining lightly throughout the event with temperatures in the 50s. Everyone had a remarkably good attitude in spite of the wet conditions. Team Imagination had the best student turnout of all the learning communities. Thank you to all the helpers and participants. We can look forward to warm and dry conditions for next Wednesday’s Walking event. Link to 19 Pictures. Messenger Street Group. Mayor Tim Smith joined us this week and he may do so again next week. VOYAGERS BEING STEWARDS FOR OUR NATURE PATHS For years now the Voyagers have been stewards of the wetlands. Lately, they have been hardworking stewards of the new nature path trail network. The pictures below were taken near the power lines on the far northern section of the property. The team has been working on creating a wood chip covered entrance into the woods. While filling buckets with wood chips, the students encountered a small garter snake. It was very hard leaving it alone. Link to 21 Pictures. GREEN STORMWATER INFRASTRUCTURE AND PRACTICES INFORMATIONAL NIGHT
Team USA students are preparing and hosting a Green Stormwater Infrastructure and Practices informational event for local residents and landowners at City School on May 12th from 6-7 pm in the school cafeteria. The purpose of the event is for the students to put into practice and apply the concepts they have been working on in class learning about watersheds, lake and stream ecosystems, and stormwater. They have learned how stormwater management impacts St. Albans Bay and will share that knowledge along with suggesting practices for supporting the overall health of the Bay. The format will be that students will be set up around the cafeteria with informational booths for community members to visit and have discussions about/with. All are welcome! |
The Library will be closed from May 9th to the 20th to support SBAC testing. Regularly scheduled library times will resume on the 23rd. Thank you! |
