USA 8th GRADERS - BOAT RIDE ON THE SPIRIT OF ETHAN ALLEN Every year, the 8th graders have an opportunity to celebrate completion of their time here at St. Albans City by dancing and consuming refreshments on the ship, Spirit of Ethan Allen. The ride takes place on an evening during the week prior to their graduation ceremony. Check out these happy faces from Team USA students taken on Friday, June 3rd. Link to 33 Pictures. NAVIGATORS PREK TEA WITH THE QUEEN - ROSS When the Queen came in for a visit, tea and biscuits were served to students dressed in their finest clothes. Ms. Darcie and their teachers were the servants. After tea, the Queen gave each student a small gem before knighting them if the wished and posing with them for pictures. Link to 43 Pictures. ADVENTURERS TRICYCLE RIDING - KOSKI The teachers from this community shared photos of their students’ first time riding the school tricycles. The weather was glorious and that matched the students’ spirits. Link to 13 Pictures. CELEBRATION Team Discovery (4th grade in particular) celebrated Ms. Lawlor’s recent achievement of graduating with an associates degree from CCV. She was very touched by this unexpected recognition. Ms. Lawlor is not alone in continuing her education while working at SACS. There are many other staff members studying for associates, bachelors and masters degrees. Sadly, most have not been recognized here since their pictures and stories were not available for the announcements. Nevertheless, there unknown accomplishments are a testimony to the fact that education is a life long experience. There is always something to learn as we strive to be better at the ways we all work with each other as adults and students.

Tuesday, June 14th, 10:30am Mt. Calvary Cemetery Team USA in conjunction with the VFW and American Legion will be co-hosting a flag retirement ceremony. We have numerous boxes of old flags that have been prepared by students for a proper retirement. This is a solemn and dignified event. Ceremonies to retire a flag can differ from each other. The short ceremony will include a few words shared by the veterans, pledge of allegiance, taps, and an honor guard with a three rifle volley. The rifles will be fired as a part of the ceremony. There will be a fire onsite to dispose of the flags. The ashes will be buried the following day. Example of a ceremony - https://youtu.be/tdHXR0PYCuY Flags needing to be retired can be dropped off at Team USA. |
