PICTURE DAY

Some of the Explorers were photographed having their pictures taken on Picture Day One. Link to 5 photos.

OPEN DOORS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMING - FIRST DAY

Ms. Vaillancourt kindly provided these pictures taken as she went around to see how things were going on Monday afternoon, 9-26-2022. Thanks to all the instructors and participants for making this program work.

RENAISSANCE 7th GRADE ART - MONTGOMERY

Students learned how to draw words or their names using perspective techniques. For a number of the students, it was the first time doing so, and therefore a little hard to wrap their minds around the task. It was very satisfying when lettering developed as hoped for. Link to 19 Pictures.

EXPLORERS GAGA PIT FACES

Mr. Weisburgh constantly discusses good sportspersonship and fairness as he closely referees the students’ play in the gaga pits. As a result, their games are generally really positive experiences. Link to 25 Pictures.

JUNIOR BAND PRACTICE - KELLY

Photos were taken of about half the practice group as the session was about over when the photographer arrived. At the time it was mostly the clarinet and flute players that were being guided on their understanding of how read and play the sheet music before them.  Link to 20 Pictures.

KALEIDOSCOPE K-3 OUTDOORS - MARCUS

Collecting apples from the school orchard. 9-27-2022

NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH - BOOKS TO CONSIDER IN THE LIBRARY

Did you know it is National Hispanic Heritage Month? It is celebrated in the U.S. from September 15 to October 15 and recognizes the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements in the United States. Checkout these books in our library today!

Before Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor took her seat in our nation's highest court, she was just a little girl in the South Bronx. Justice Sotomayor didn't have a lot growing up, but she had what she needed -- her mother's love, a will to learn, and her own determination. With bravery she became the person she wanted to be. With hard work she succeeded. With little sunlight and only a modest plot from which to grow, Justice Sotomayor bloomed for the whole world to see.

Things are not going well at Starwood Elementary! A squirrel is running through the halls. A tree fell on the gym. The principal is acting weird! Can Freddie save the day with his Zapato Power?
