PICTURES

NAVIGATORS VISITED BY FIREMAN NATE - LAWYER

All PreK & Kindergarten classrooms are being visited by Fireman Nate, just as he has done so in years past. The goal is to introduce our youngest children to what firemen and women do, what they have to wear to be safe and what equipment they use to fight fires. Equally important, is to explain to children what to do in case of a fire at home and how to react to firemen and women who would come to rescue them. Fireman Nate’s visit is a big deal to students of this age. To finish off the visit each student got a chance to drive the fire engine around the parking lot (just kidding), rather, they each got to sit in the driver’s seat of the fire engine. BFA INTERNS

Each year students come to assist in our classrooms either as a way of doing community service or as a way to test out the idea of eventually becoming classroom teachers. EXCEPTIONAL PICTURES BOOKS IN OUR LIBRARY

The Red Clover book awards are a list of exceptional picture books created by librarians around the state since 1997.  Each of these texts are in our school library and here you will find resources that go with each book.

Sample:

On the island of Koh Panyee, in a village built on stilts, there is no open space. How will a group of Thai boys play soccer?

After watching the World Cup on television, a group of Thai boys is inspired to form their own team. But on the island of Koh Panyee, in a village built on stilts, there is no open space. The boys can play only twice a month on a sandbar when the tide is low enough. Everything changes when the teens join together to build their very own floating soccer field.

This inspiring true story by debut author Scott Riley is gorgeously illustrated by Nguyen Quang and Kim Lien. Perfect for fans of stories about sports, beating seemingly impossible odds, and places and cultures not often shown in picture books.
