PICTURES DISCOVERY & VOYAGERS SAIL MAKING CHALLENGE - ECHO ECHO is Vermont's innovative science and nature museum on the Lake Champlain waterfront. Staff from the museum travel to schools around the state to provide lessons in science and innovation. On Monday, November 14th, 6th graders were offered a challenge in sail-making for magnetically levitated “boats”. Students used three straws, construction paper, a hole punch, scissors and paper clips to make their own sail designs. Then, they got to test how far their boats traveled when a fan was used blow them down a track. In the course of the 45 minute class they were given the chance to revise and improve the effectiveness of their designs. This was a fun and animating challenge as you will see from the video clips. A FUN PICTURE - BROWN It was Pajama Day in this student’s classroom. Mr. Brown has hockey sticks and tennis balls in the green room and occasionally he passes tennis balls with students, or students get to shoot on goalie or at the wall.
