COMMUNITY COMMUNICATION - PRINCIPAL HIRING PROCESS St. Albans City School Parents, Guardians, and Community Members, I hope this message finds you well and you’re looking forward to a healthy and safe Thanksgiving. I’m writing today to provide an update about the SACS Principal hiring process, including an invitation for you to give input in the process. My role at Maple Run is the Human Resources Director and I will serve as the facilitator of this hiring process and I look forward to getting to know more about the SACS community as we position ourselves for continued growth and success heading into the 23/24 school year. Although the new SACS Principal will start on July 1, 2023, we are initiating the search process now to recruit skilled and qualified candidates for consideration. As a SACS community member, your input will play a valuable role throughout the process. First, you are invited to provide input into a community discussion about the attributes and skills that you feel are necessary for the next principal to be successful. On Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 6:00-7:00pm, we will hold a Community Input Session in the St. Albans City School Library. If you are interested in serving on the interview committee, you are required to attend the community input session in order to represent and advocate for the perspectives shared by the group. After the session on 12/8, a Google Form will be sent out for you to express interest in participating on the interview committee. (Similarly, staff will have an input forum and those wishing to serve on the committee will be required to participate in that forum.) While details will be communicated at a later point, you can expect to be invited to give feedback in late January when we welcome principal candidate finalists to visit SACS and meet with staff, students, and community members. Have a nice week and holiday, thank you in advance for providing input and feedback as we select the next Principal of St. Albans City School Thank you, Casey Provost Human Resources Director Maple Run Unified School District cprovost@maplerun.org |

PICTURES VOYAGERS UVM DRONE VISIT FOR IMAGING THE WETLANDS On Friday the 18th of November, two environmental and drone specialists from UVM visited the Voyagers learning community. They offered a slideshow and question and answer period prior conducting their work. Their indoor presentation proved to be the most fascinating part of their visit as they explained the varied types of drones they use and the different kinds of images they can get from them: highly detailed photos and videos, topography and elevation measurements, volume measurements and much more. The two specialists discussed how they became drone and mapping experts and what kinds of projects they handle. Needless to say, the students and staff at the presentation were fascinated. The goal of their visit on Friday was to fly their large quad-copter drone over the wetlands to get careful imagery measures of the terrain and vegetation of that area. A zig-zag flight pattern was pre-programmed into the drone before its flight and the imagery it collected as it flew was sent back to a computer in real-time. Link to 12 Pictures. Link to 25 second video of the drone taking off. AESOP’S FABLES The Open Doors Drama students who worked with Ms. Maher this session put on a performance this past Thursday afternoon in the big gymnasium. Family members and other Open Doors participants attended the ½ hour show. The actors showed off their hard work and skills. Families felt pride in their students’ newly showcased abilities. 11-18-2022. Link to 42 Pictures. Link to 18 minute video.
